The Salt of the Earth

We will go from Aktau on the highway in direction of Fort-Shevchenko. We will arrive to the beach of pure sand organize, there will find house of fishermen and the remains of the fortress wall which used to be part of the Great Silk Road through which caravan traders used to pass along the sea coast to the Bay of Bautino(northern branch of the Silk Road).

From there will transfer further to the picturesque Blue Bay not far from where on the rock's cliff we will see stone traces of the Great Silk road through which tracks of hundreds of thousands of wagons traveled to these places during the 17th century.

From Blue Bay we will depart to see oasis in the desert - Saura Gorge and located there freshwater Saura Lake. Saura Gorge is an amazing canyon just a kilometer from the coast of the Caspian Sea.

In the depth of the cup-shaped canyon we will find a miracle of nature - freshwater lake Saura. The inhabitants of this lake are rare freshwater marsh turtles and toads.

Further our way lies to the north to the next miracle of nature - Tamshaly tract. Tamshaly- oasis - in Kazakh language is literally translated as "merry drops" - which is located at the base of the Grand Canyon.

Early in the morning, we will depart from Tamshaly tract to Zhigalgan valley also known as Fallen earth, on top of which you will feel yourself like you are located on the edge of the Earth.

From Zhigalgan we will depart to see underground mosque of Sultan Epe. Then on, we will depart to see underground mosque Shakpak-Ata. The Necropolis of Shakpak-Ata (10th-13th cc.) and its underground mosque are located on the Tupkargan peninsula.

From Shakpak-Ata valley we will move to visit Torysh valley of Magical balls or more correctly huge globular concretions.

From Torysh Valley we will continue our route towards Sherkala Mountain, which is literally translated as Lion Mountain because of its color. Sherkala mount is a symbol of whole Mangistau region, photos of which you will find everywhere.

From Sherkala we will head to Akmishtau valley also know as Akmish oasis where will set up our tents and Guide will prepare

Tuzbair lake which is literally translates as "Salty Wall" takes its name after the White Salty mountains that surround this lake, saltiness of which is consider 10 times higher than the saltiness of the World ocean. Here we will do a trekking up on TuzbairSor and walk on salty surface of Tuzbair lake. You will feel yourself as if you we were standing Up on Top of the Water.

After lunch we will transfer through Ustyrt Plato to Beket-Ata underground mosque (18th century). There on Ustyurt Plato we will be able to see Beket -Ata underground mosque from the High point.

If you want we can also walk down 1 km from cliff and enter Beket Ata mosque.

From Beket-Atamosque, we will drive another 5 km and come to Naizatau Mount.

From Naizatau mount we will transfer to the canyon located in Bozhira valley where will set up our tents.

We will do a trekking in Bozhira valley to the Dead Note Cliff (4km one way) from top of which opens an amazing panorama on whole Ustyrt Plato.

After trekking we will depart to see Bokty Mount. Bokty Mountain is located on table-flat clay, called shatt. The red colour of the chalk is what truly makes this Mount stand out.

After Bokty mount we will depart to see Tuesu sands.

After lunch we will depart to Karagie depression. Karagie depression, which is at approximately 132 meters below sea level, is the lowest points in Kazakhstan and one of the lowest in whole Central Asia.    Our Guide will show you spots from which the deepness and wideness of this depression is fully seen.
